The Birth Doula provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother and her partner before, during and just after birth. Connie is a DONA trained birth doula (2010) and a certified Hypnobabies Hypno-doula with experience supporting families is various settings and using a broad range of comfort and support tools. Connie believes that women should be empowered to make choices that they feel are best for them before, during and after their birthing time and her role is to be an advocate that supports those choices. A doula can be instrumental in creating a peaceful, joyful environment as a family welcomes a new member. She not only supports the mother, but also her birth partner and any other important people present.
At Sprout and Bean the $800 Birth Doula package includes a free consultation, at least one prenatal home visit, text and phone support during pregnancy, continuous support during labor and birth with no time limits, and a postpartum home visit. Connie always has back-up coverage from other experienced doulas with a similar approach and philosophy.
Please contact Connie for more information about inviting her into your birth space at email@example.com.
The Postpartum Doula works with families in the postpartum period; offering support, information, instruction, comfort, and referrals as needed. Postpartum Doulas support the mother’s recovery, give instruction on infant care and feeding, and assist with household organization. Connie is a CAPPA trained postpartum doula (2016) and also uses her own experience as a mother to serve new and growing families during the wonderful and challenging early days of parenthood. As a Certified Lactation Educator Connie can provide evidence-based breastfeeding support including how to get off to a great start, understanding pumping and pump care, proper breastmilk storage, and when to seek other professional help for concerns and challenges.
Connie offers postpartum doula services on a sliding scale ($20-35) and is available at short notice for families needing support. Please email, call or text her at firstname.lastname@example.org, 336-404-4703.
As a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and Certified Lactation Educator Connie provides comprehensive classes and consultations to individuals and families who wish to learn and explore their options through pregnancy, childbirth and the early postpartum period. She has had the honor to teach hundreds of couples! Connie's classes are evidence-based, hands-on, practical, and fun!
Connie currently teaches group classes at UNC Hospital Women's Health Education Center and private classes in the community. She is passionate about meeting the birth education needs of all expecting parents, particularly those that may be underserved such as parents preparing for birth with a gestational carrier, after trauma, with chronic health conditions (with a particular passion for moms with type 1 diabetes) and after previous pregnancy loss.
The childbearing year is a unique time in a family's life. It can be a time of celebration, deep reflection, grief, joys and challenges. Sprout and Bean offers a range of workshops that support growing families as they face the changes a new baby brings. Connie incorporates her background in Expressive Arts Therapy to offer meaningful, creative experiences.
A Pregnancy Circle
A Pregnancy Circle is a free monthly group in the Triangle area that offers a supportive space to share and process all the thoughts, feelings, emotions and experiences that may come with pregnancy. Strong feelings are always welcome! The group is gently facilitated and has a focus on providing each group member their own dedicated processing time.
A Pregnancy Circle is taking a break, but we will be back!
Facilitators: Connie Carringer, MA, LCCE, CLE, HCHI and Hillary Paul Halpern, MS.
